Fourth grade students from the Orff ensemble, band, orchestra and chorus performed in front of a packed house during their spring concert at Eagleville Elementary on Tuesday, May 12. Students from both Eagleville and Woodland came together to showcase their hard work for an audience of friends, family and community members.
The students have been honing their skills all year long at their respective schools, joining forces for only one brief rehearsal as a collective group before the final performances began. Despite their limited time practicing together, the performance was seamless and the energy in the room was electric.
The band got the night started with an energetic variety of tunes including 'Big Beat Boogie' and 'Let's Go Band!' Then the Orff ensemble had a creative performance inspired by the story 'To Catch a Star,' which blended instrumental music, singing and acting. The orchestra delivered a sophisticated set of three selections, revisiting several favorites from the String Jamboree held earlier this year. The chorus ended the evening by performing both as separate schools and as one collective group, closing the night with the Brazilian folk song, 'Cirandeiro.'
Congratulations to all of our students on these collaborative and successful performances! We also extend a huge thank you to our dedicated music teachers for sharing their expertise and bringing these two school communities together: Mrs. Engler, Mrs. Nugent, Mrs. DiRenzo, and Mx. Shuey.
We would also like to share a special thank you with our accompanist, Mrs. Sinnott, and our two hardworking student teachers for their invaluable support in making this concert a reality.
